I take the privacy of everyone who visits my website, writes to me, or commissions a piece seriously. This page explains, in plain language, what personal data I collect, why, and what your rights are. The legal entity responsible for your data is CAROLINA CHABERT SARL, Carouge, Switzerland, and processing is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
What I collect, and why
When you write to me through the contact form Your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. I use these only to reply to you and to follow up on your enquiry.
When you sign up for my mailing list Your email address. I use it to send occasional news — new pieces, transformation stories, and invitations to the boutique. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to me.
When you place an order Your name, billing and delivery address, email, phone number, and the details of your order. Payments are processed by my payment providers (Wix Payments, PayPal); I never see or store your full card details. Order data is kept as long as Swiss commercial and accounting law requires.
When you book an appointment Bookings run through Calendly. The details you enter there — name, email, and your answers to the short intake form — come to me so I can prepare for your visit. Calendly's own privacy policy also applies to their processing.
When you simply browse The site runs on Wix and uses Google Analytics, which collect technical data — pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and cookies — to keep the site working and to help me understand how it is used. This data does not identify you personally to me.
When you chat with me on the site If you use the chat bubble, the messages you send and the contact details you choose to share are used to answer you.
If you create an account The site lets you create a member account to view your order history. An account stores your login email, name, and the orders linked to it. I use this only to run your account and your orders — never for marketing without your separate consent. You can ask me to delete your account at any time; order records themselves are kept for the retention periods required by Swiss law even after an account is closed.
What I never do
I do not sell your data. I do not share it with anyone for their marketing. Client stories and photographs of identifiable people are published only with that person's consent. Photographs of finished pieces are the property of Carolina Chabert and may appear in my portfolio and communications.
Who processes data on my behalf
To run the site and the business I rely on a small number of service providers: Wix (website, shop and forms), Wix Payments and PayPal (payments), Calendly (bookings), Google (analytics and email). Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland, including in the European Union and the United States; where they do, transfers rely on the safeguards provided for under the FADP (such as adequacy or recognised contractual clauses maintained by those providers).
How long I keep data
Enquiries and correspondence: as long as needed to deal with your request and a reasonable period after. Order and invoicing data: for the retention periods required by Swiss law (generally ten years). Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. Analytics data: per Google Analytics' standard retention settings.
Your rights
Under the FADP you can ask me at any time:
-
what data I hold about you (access);
-
to correct it if it is wrong (rectification);
-
to delete it, where no legal retention duty applies (deletion);
-
to stop using it for a particular purpose, such as the mailing list (objection).
Write to carolina@carolinachabert.com and I will respond. You also have the right to contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) if you believe your data is being mishandled.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the data described above is limited to the people who need it to run the business.
Changes to this policy
If the way I handle data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
Questions about any of this are welcome — write to carolina@carolinachabert.com.
